Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Ordinary Seaman (OS) to join our vessel’s deck department. The OS will assist in maintaining the ship, handling deck operations, supporting navigation duties, and ensuring safety and cleanliness onboard. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in the merchant navy and gain hands-on sea experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Able Seaman (AB) and officers in daily deck operations.
Perform maintenance tasks such as painting, cleaning, and repairing equipment.
Handle mooring and unmooring operations during port arrivals and departures.
Stand watch duties under supervision (lookout, helmsman support, gangway watch).
Assist in cargo operations and safe stowage of goods.
Participate in emergency drills (firefighting, abandon ship, man overboard).
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the vessel’s deck and living quarters.
Comply with safety regulations, ISM Code, and company policies.

Requirements:
Minimum qualification: GP Rating Course / Pre-Sea Training (recognized by DG Shipping or equivalent authority).
Valid STCW certificates (Basic Safety Training, PST, PSSR, FPFF, EFA).
Seafarer’s Medical Fitness Certificate (as per MLC standards).
Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) issued by the relevant authority.
Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from senior officers.
Good physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging sea conditions.

Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of seamanship practices and deck equipment.
Basic understanding of navigational terms and shipboard operations.
Discipline, teamwork, and a safety-first mindset.
